Summarize your key metrics with the Group by widget

With the Group by widget for monday you can summarize your key metrics easily in a calculation row.

  • Group metrics by categorical columns like status of your tasks.
  • Add an extra column to display the summed up amount of items.
  • Create a pagination by changing the number of result rows per page.

Save time and group your key metrics with the Group by widget!

The Group by widget saves your configured settings permanently. Your configuration persists even if you change items or groupings on the board. You can change the settings of your widget at any time.

This widget type can't be viewed or configured by users of the type viewer. You can read more about user types in the official documentation by monday.com.

Configuration

You can access the configuration settings of the Group by widget by clicking on the blue arrow at the right side of the widget.

Configure the widget title

Add or change the widget title of the Group by widget by clicking on the title at the top.

Show the items count as a seperate column

The 'Columns to sum' picker selects the item count by default. This adds an extra column to your widget table, displaying the number of items for each selected category. If you prefer not to see this count, simply deselect it from the dropdown menu.

Configure which columns to sum

Under Columns to sum, choose the columns you want to aggregate in the Group by widget. The widget will display: summed values for each category and a total sum in an additional calculation row at the bottom

You can only include columns of the data types Numbers or Votes from the board associated with your widget. To add new columns to a board or change the data type of existing columns, head over to the board and create new columns as required.

Select columns from multiple boards

sumUp for Monday now supports multiboard functionality. If you have connected multiple boards to your dashboard, the matched columns from all boards or corresponding columns from each board will be available in the "Columns to Sum" picker.

(warning) Remember to re-configure the widget settings when connecting or removing boards (from the existing configuration) to get accurate results.

Grouping the results

Use the Group by picker to pivot the items by a specific column name. The column that is used for grouping will appear in the first column of the Group by widget.

You can only group by values from categorical columns like Board group, Status, Date, or Person. To add new columns to a board or change the data type of existing columns, head over to the board and create new columns as required.

Note:
On choosing a date column, time-based grouping options: day, month, quarter, or year are available in the subsequent picker.

Select columns from multiple boards

sumUp for Monday now supports multiboard functionality. If you have connected multiple boards to your dashboard, the matched columns from all boards or corresponding columns from each board will be available in the "Group by" picker.

Additional info:

  • If a column is labeled as "Status" under the 'All boards' section, it means there is an identical status column in all boards.
  • If a column is labeled as "Status (T)" under the 'All boards' section, it means sumUp has matched the status column from different boards. So, there is a status column with different configurations (e.g., name or options) across the boards.
Configure the number of rows per page

Expand the 'Additional Options' section and specify the number of result rows you want under Rows per page. Selecting a smaller number will divide the table across multiple pages.

You can see the current page in the pagination section below the table. Click on the page numbers to switch between pages.

Set the refresh interval

Expand the 'Additional Options' section and set the data refresh rate under "Update Interval (minutes)." Any changes made on the associated board will be reflected in the widget after the specified interval.
