Create comprehensive overviews of your key metrics with the Two dimensional widget

Interested in categorizing and summarizing your metrics using two distinct dimensions?

The Two-dimensional widget empowers you to construct comprehensive metric summaries by grouping them based on two different categorical columns.

Calculation rows are displayed both at the bottom and on the side, forming a matrix of sums for each row and column in the table.

Configuration

You can access the configuration settings of the Two dimensional widget by clicking on the blue arrow at the right side of the widget.

The Two dimensional widget saves your configured settings permanently. Your configuration persists even if you change items or groupings on the board. You can change the settings of your widget at any time.

This widget type can't get viewed or configured by users of the type viewer. You can read more about user types in the official documentation by monday.com.

Configure the widget title

Add or change the widget title of the Two dimensional widget by clicking on the title at the top.

Configure which column to sum

In the "Two Dimensional" widget, select the column you want to sum under "Column to Sum." The widget displays the summed values across the x- and y-axes within the matrix, along with total sums in an additional calculation row at the end of each row and column.

You can only calculate sums for columns with data types such as Numbers, Votes, or Mirror columns (mirroring vote or number-based columns) from the board associated with your widget. Additionally, Item count is also now supported. To add new columns or change the data type of existing columns, go to the board and make the necessary adjustments.

Select columns from multiple boards

sumUp for Monday now supports multiboard functionality. If you have connected multiple boards to your dashboard, the matched columns from all boards or corresponding columns from each board will be available in the "Columns to Sum" picker.

(warning) Remember to re-configure the widget settings when connecting or removing boards (from the existing configuration) to get accurate results.

Grouping the results on the x-axis

Select the categorical column for summing values along the x-axis using the "X-axis Grouping" picker. The x-axis categories will be displayed in the horizontal bar above the table.

You can only group by values from categorical columns like Board group, Status, Date, or Person. To add new columns to a board or change the data type of existing columns, head over to the board and create new columns as required.
Note: On choosing a date column, time-based grouping options: day, month, quarter, or year are available in the subsequent picker.

Good to Know:

  • If a column is labeled as "Status" under the 'All boards' section, it means there is an identical status column in all boards.
  • If a column is labeled as "Status (T)" under the 'All boards' section, it means sumUp has matched the status column from different boards. So, there is a status column with different configurations (e.g., name or options) across the boards..

Flip the axis

If you have selected columns for both x-axis and y-axis grouping, you can switch them by clicking the axis flip button.

Grouping the results on the y-axis

Select the categorical column for summing values along the x-axis using the "Y-axis Grouping" picker. The y-axis categories will be displayed in the vertical bar above the table.

You can only group by values from categorical columns like Board group, Status, Date, or Person. To add new columns to a board or change the data type of existing columns, head over to the board and create new columns as required.

Configure the number of rows per page

You can see the current page in the pagination section below the table. Click on the page numbers to switch between pages.

Set the refresh interval

Expand the 'Additional Options' section and set the data refresh rate under "Update Interval (minutes)." Any changes made on the associated board will be reflected in the widget after the specified interval.
