Transition issues when assigned to a developer

Field Changed Event

Create a new rule and name it appropriately.

Providing a description will help you to identify what the rule does but this step is optional.

Add a trigger and choose the Field Changed Event

Choose Assignee in Fields* and Any value in Changed to*

No further configuration needed. The automation rule is triggered every time an issue is being transitioned.

User Condition

Add Condition → User Condition

User to evaluate*: User in field → Assignee

Check against*: User in Project role(s) → Developers

Transition Issue

Add Action → Transition Issue

Mode*: Transition to status → In Development

Run as

User in field: Assignee

The target status has to be reachable from the current status, otherwise the action will not be executed.
